MAJOR CAR PARK IMPROVEMENTS AS WHITE ROSE PLANS FOR A SMOOTH OPERATION

Major car park improvements are under way at Land Securities’ White Rose Shopping Centre, including re-surfacing and introduction of a computerised vehicle management system.

The centre, which celebrates its 15 anniversary in March, has 8 car parks providing 4,800 free spaces and they, along with estate roads, will be re-surfaced in a logistically-planned operation designed to ensure that the work goes smoothly and any disruption to customers, shop staff and delivery companies is kept to a minimum.

Centre Director Peter Cook, said: “This is part of our planned maintenance programme and, in addition to the re-surfacing, we will be decorating the street furniture and installing a computer-controlled vehicle management system that helps guide shoppers to the nearest and most convenient parking spaces – something that will be extremely helpful at times of peak usage.”

Mr Cook, added: “The resurfacing work being between now and June will be carried out in a sequential basis to minimise any inconvenience and directional signage will be in place to advise shoppers of the nearest parking spaces when works are underway.”

The contract is being handled by Morgan Sindall and will provide ten jobs for a team of local people, including one apprentice.

In line with the centre’s environmental policy, all of the materials planed from the car parks and roads will be recycled.
