Visit our Cancer Awareness Installation
Join us this Saturday for a meaningful art installation from the artist collective Sand In Your Eye in The Village. We will have seven ice sculptures of naked female torsos to remind everyone how important it is to check yourself regularly - particularly as February is ‘Check yourself’ month!
The seven sculptures represent the fact that one in seven of us will be diagnosed with breast cancer in our lifetime. One of the leading artists, Claire Wardley, was herself diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago, so it was incredibly important for her to highlight the potentially life-saving action of checking your body for abnormalities, especially if you’re just below the screening age, as she was.
Claire will be at the installation, along with her two children, who will be singing to raise money. So far, the family have raised over £3000. Come and see the sculptures, learn more about this fantastic initiative and enjoy some live music!
